The start of a journey through Mozart’s Dances for Orchestra, one of the most neglected genres in his catalog today.
This particular set had always intrigued me since I was a kid when the most I could get of it was its name listed in the discography on the back cover of an old LP vinyl disc – that included works other than the dances.
Nowadays that you can listen to pretty much anything by Mozart with a mouse click, I finally got around this one, and was very surprised to find the first one used themes from the “Nozze di Figaro”.
The youtube video features all four pieces in one video. On IMSLP you can stream and download individual mp3 files.
